Weekly English Lessons

At Lancaster Languages, we specialise in bespoke language tuition in English (ESOL/EFL) in lessons of 1–2 hours for small groups or individuals. We aim to make the lessons enjoyable and practical so that you become more confident and competent users of the language, whilst also gaining deeper cross-cultural understanding.

The great advantage of small-group or one-to-one teaching is that every lesson will be planned and delivered according to your particular needs, in terms of level, pace and content. Simply tell us what your objectives are, and we will help you attain them, by devising a programme of lessons specifically for you.

To ensure optimal learning outcomes, it is essential that all members of a group are from the same company or organisation, and have shared goals and approximately the same level of English.

Level and Content

We cater for any level, from complete beginners to advanced students.

You may just want to develop your English skills generally, or you may have a particular purpose in mind, for example:

• to pass an exam
• to gain entry to an English-speaking university
• to develop your academic or business English skills
• to communicate more effectively in the workplace

Language Skills

Each programme will include elements of the four key skills:

• speaking
• listening
• reading
• writing

and simultaneously develop knowledge of:

• grammar
• vocabulary
• pragmatics (e.g. using appropriate levels of formality, according to the situation)

Venue

Language instruction takes place either at our Lancaster base, or at a location convenient to you, such as your workplace or home.

Prices

Prices are from £40/hour but vary depending on numbers and precise requirements.
